About NID
Design Aptitude Test (DAT) serves as a national-level entrance examination conducted by the National Initiate of Design( NID) for recognizing applicants for the Bachelor of Design( BDes) and Master of Design( MDes) courses provided through the participating institutes. The Layout Aptitude Test comprises two measures: DAT Prelims- The Student first appears in the Prelims exam. DAT Mains- The scores of DAT Prelims happen to be utilized to shortlist applicants pertaining to DAT Mains. Note that pertaining to admission to the B. Dieses or M. Des course, the concept is mandatory to seem for both DAT Prelims and DAT Mains.
Seats and Program Offered
Currently, the B. Dieses course has an intake of 425 seats which is offered by the following FIVE campuses a considerable NID Ahmedabad, NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Haryana, NID Madhya Pradesh, and NID Assam. Meanwhile, the M.Des course offers 347 seats at its THREE campuses - NID Ahmedabad, NID Gandhinagar, and NID Bengaluru.

Eligibility Criteria- Nationality: Indian and foreign nationals living overseas can apply.
- Appearing: Applicants appearing in their qualifying exam can also apply provided they submit their proof of passing during admission.
- Age Limit for B.Des/GDPD: The maximum age for applicants applying should be 20 years as on 30 June 2023. ST/SC/OBC candidates will get 3 years of age relaxation while PwD will get 5 years of age relaxation.
- Age Limit for M.Des: Maximum age limit of applicants applying should be 30 years as on 30 June 2023. ST/SC/OBC candidates will get 3 years of age relaxation while PwD will get 5 years of age relaxation.
